Could You Tell Us A Bit About Yourself And How You Got Involved In Fitness?

I have always been active in some shape or form since a child. At a young age I earned my black belt in Tae Kwon Do, then for many years I played football up until my late teenage years. I had been lifting since about the age of 15 but for sports and not for aesthetics. At the age of about 19 or so I began to compete as a fitness model as I am constantly looking to challenge myself and body.

What Helps You Stay Motivated?

I motivate myself through setting goals. Having a goal in life is such an overlooked factor. When you have a goal, you have that feeling of being anxious to wakeup every morning and attack them. That is why I am constantly setting goals, if I don’t I would be miserable and depressed. Who wants to live their life with nothing to look forward to, that is the reason many people in the world are unhappy, they wait for what they want in life to come to them, or they wait for the perfect moment to start. I can assure you that the perfect moment is NEVER. The perfect time to start is now, the stars will never all be aligned for that “perfect opportunity” that everybody waits for.

Free Weights Vs Machines What Do You Feel Are The Pros & Cons and Which Do You Prefer?

Free weights are great overall providing the person has no limitations. I only really recommend machines if somebody has an injury or for rehabilitation purposes.

What Mistakes Did You Make When You First Started As A Newbie?

One of the biggest mistakes I made as a rookie is doing too much cardio, for some reason we all think the more cardio we do, the leaner we get. Sometimes it requires the opposite for you to get leaner, we must back off the cardio in order to drop a bit more body fat.

How Often Do You Perform Cardio?

I perform cardio 4-5 days per week

Which Do You Prefer and Why… Steady State Cardio Or HITT Cardio?

I prefer HIIT because you get more benefits in less time. The real benefits of HIIT come after the workout, throughout the day your body will burn more calories then it would have by doing steady state cardio. Also who doesn’t want to save time, and push themselves. That feeling of being out of breath and gasping for air is the best feeling!

What Are Your Personal Thoughts On Fasted Cardio?

I perform fasted cardio, and as of this year I even perform fasted workouts in the morning and still maintain my strength.

What Does Your Diet Look Like?

The following includes my diet. Weekly adjustments will be made (if necessary) when training for a competition.

Meal 1:
4 Egg Whites
3 whole omega 3 eggs
Oats with cinnamon
(Fish oil, glutamine)
Meal 2: Post-Workout
Whey protein with egg whites
High glycemic fruit with a moderate glycemic carb
Leafy green salad
(Creatine, glutamine)
Meal 3:
Turkey, chicken, fish, or beef
Leafy green salad with asparagus
Sweet potato or brown rice
Udos Oil 3-6-9
Meal 4:
Whey protein
Raw greens juice (that I make in the juicer)
Rice cakes
1 tbsp. almond butter
Meal 5:
White fish
Leafy green salad with asparagus
Vegetables (Broccoli)

Do You Bulk and Cut Or Do You Stay Lean For The Whole Year Round?

I stay lean year round. I am also in a position where I am happy with my size for what I do so I do not want to get any bigger. However I am not a fan of bulking anyway, as your body functions better without bulking up and consuming an excessive amount of calories.

What Do You Find Gives The Best Results When You Are Cutting?

High intensity workouts, combined with carb cycling. I cycle my carbs based on how I feel. I do it all based on how I feel and how my body feels. If I feel very depleted for several days I will have a high carb day filled with healthy carbs and also some healthy fats but lower protein.

How Do You Deal With Cravings?

I have learned to create good eating habits. I don’t force myself to eat healthy food, because I have made it so it is a part of me, it is just a normal day for me. You have to make eating healthy a part of you and not something you force yourself to do. On a side note, I always have a cheat meal every week, even up to 2 weeks out from a show. Every saturday, after my morning workout I will eat whatever I want until noon. That gives me 2-3 hours to eat anything I have been craving throughout the feel. By doing that, your body just flush’s is all out. It only becomes a problem when you eat junk for a few days at a time or go overboard.

What Supplements Do You Use?

My current daily supplement stack:
1000mg Vitamin C
20g Glutamend Glutamine
10g Creatine Monohydrate
Hydrolyzed Whey Protein
Omega 3 Fish Oil

What Activities and Hobbies Do You Enjoy When You Are Away From The Gym?

I do MMA, mainly Tae Kwon Do, Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, and boxing. I also love travelling, doing outdoor sports especially rock climbing.

What 3 Exercises Have Contributed The Most To Building Your Physique?

Pullups, Dips, and Dead-lifts. Those are the only three exercises that you need to build every muscle in your body. The combination of them hit every muscle group in your body, and they are three exercises I live by in the gym!

What Is Your Favorite Workout Music?

Pump up songs are the best, lots of Eminem and DMX.

– Personal Trainer of the year-World Physique Magazine
– Top 50 Fitness Blogger in the world – Kred

What Do You Love About Competing?

I love competing because it gives me an avenue to push myself and physique. School and work can push your mind to learn more, and competing pushes your body to perform better. I am a competitive person, and I love to always push myself and see how far I can go at everything I do.

Who Are Your Favorite Athletes, Bodybuilders and Fitness Models?

I look up to anybody who works hard and dedicates themselves to anything that they love. Whether it may be basketball, bodybuilding, golf, or owning a restaurant!

Any Advice For Our Readers?

My words to you would be to stay true to yourself, do not BS yourself and lie to yourself. Be honest with yourself and goals, if you want something, and then do everything in your power to get it! Turn over every stone possible, make sure that everything you do, you do it with 100% of your effort. Utilizing that mindset has really helped me to achieve many of my goals.
