Could You Tell Us A Bit About Yourself And How You Got Involved In Fitness?
I was raised in the country on a ranch riding horses bare back with my father and brother checking fence line around our multi acreage home in central Oklahoma. We had a lot of animals and some funny pets growing up. Including a pet Opossum, who I named Herman. (my mom actually let him live inside with he, I fed him Bill Jac) I Spent the summers bailing hay, branding cattle and swimming in the creek till it was too dark to see. So never was I setting in front of the television or laying by the pool.
Aside from growing up outdoors, I was always an athlete. I participated in Competitive soccer & on to ODP (olympic development program) for my region. I was a gymnast and played softball. I give my mother all the credit for my love of fitness. She was the one that changed her lifestyle had the most effect on my life.
What Helps You Stay Motivated?
I have a tear out from a magazine from 2 years ago, I still carry it around with me in my wallet. I take one look at that picture and I get my game face on, trainers tied tight and Ipod pumping! I cant tell you what that picture is.. its just one that is motivating to me. 🙂
What Does Your Workout Look Like?
I always kill it any and every chance I get in the gym! Of course I have off days we all do. but I usually train these muscle groups together.. such as back/bi Chest/tri Shoulders/legs Glutes/abs .. Im in the process of training for Ms. Universe so my training is pretty strict. I train myself. Today im going in for round 2 of cardio.
What Sort Of Rep Range Do You Use?
when prepping for a show I usually will do a 20 minute HIIT and 30 minute run or something thats moderate intensity.
What Does Your Diet Look Like?
I eat clean and very healthy fresh all year round. I treat myself when I want and never feel guilty. Right now Im eating every 3-4 hours with no treats. around 20 grams protein and I take in my carbs in the morning before mid afternoon.
What Do You Find Gives The Best Results When You Are Cutting?
I eat a lot of nuts and peanut butter my favourite thing is peanut butter and apples. so usually when I cut that out and watch the snacking I will cut down pretty quickly.
What Supplements Do You Use?
All my supplements are from BMR. www.BMR.me if you would like more information on this company. It’s a swedish company and I have had the opportunity to use these supplements before they hit the shelves in the states!!! I will take protein supplement and every once in a while the fat burning/appetite suppressant and that is usually only when Im close to a show and Im going loco!
What Activities and Hobbies Do You Enjoy When You Are Away From The Gym?
I love traveling. I’m always on the go:) I need a cot at the airport just to save on drive time. If I’m not traveling I can usually be found poolside with friends or boating on our lake. If it’s outdoors and active I’m there!
What Is The Most Common Training Question People Ask You The Gym?
How can I get jacked like you. This usually comes from girls! I tell them not to be afraid to lift heavy. In High school I hated my arms. I never worked them out because I was afraid that they would just get bigger.. but when I did finally buckle down and work them out I started to love them. And of course we have to remember that diet is 80%
What Is Your Greatest Achievement?
I feel very accomplished and I have achieved so much. I have been so blessed with every opportunity. But I would say, The Arnold Classic, placing 4th. 10 days before I was set to go on stage I was lifeless laying on the couch with a 105 temperature, second guessing wether or not I should get on that plane and fly to Chicago. Another great accomplishment is seeing everyone that I have had a positive influence on.. I love the emails that I get from people who tell me that Im their inspiration, and that they look up to me for motivation. Being able to give someone motivation to be better for themselves is better than any magazine or commercial I could ever land!

What Do You Love About Competing?
Eating the burger and fries after the show! hahaaa well, Its just amazing seeing all the beautiful girls we are all nervous no matter how many times you walk out on that stage your nerves get the best of you, I always put a song in my head that gets me pumped up and walk out on stage…. hahaa and I do my thing.
What Are Your Plans For The Future?
I recently ran a 15K marathon and took first overall female. That was cool but it made me realize that I have NO DESIRE to train for a marathon. I’ve been thinking about training for a fitness routine with my gymnastic background. I think i’d like it and I’d like the challenge. But as far as the name Ashley Horner goes and who I am as a person and who I stand for. I will be the biggest name in the fitness industry for modeling and PR. Look out Jamie Eason. I truly love what I do and the more lives I can continue to change and influence the more it influences me and pushes me to be and do better and work harder.
I want to settle down and get married someday. But right now Im paving a path.
