Could You Tell Us A Bit About Yourself And How You Got Involved In Fitness?

I was never happy that I had muscles. But, one day I saw this man with a beautiful body at the beach. I thought he looked like a star and I liked his look. My friends and I tried to imagine the cool and beautiful women he could attract. One day he came to us and it was clear that he was attracted to me! He appreciated my body as it was. He gave me my first diet, showed me what food to eat and not eat, got me into the gym, and made me feel better about my body. This was my first introduction to fitness.

What Helps You Stay Motivated?

I am motivated by my results, when I see changes in my body. If I see no changes, yes, it is harder to keep going. But I am a pro, and still do the necessary work because I know the results will make me happy.

What Does Your Workout Look Like?

In addition to three performance workouts each week, I do the following splits with one day off a week: Chest/Biceps, Shoulders/Triceps, Back, Legs.

What Sort Of Rep Range Do You Use?

Off-season, I am aiming for muscle growth, so I work with heavier weights, 6-12 reps, working to exhaustion. During the contest prep I try to stay at 15 reps, working out more for fat loss and a good pump, to bring out my definition.

What Mistakes Did You Make When You First Started As A Newbie?

I made many mistakes and can’t remember them all. But I was happy to make them as a newbie, and I am happy to make mistakes now, because mistakes are what you learn from.

How Often Do You Perform Cardio?

I do cardio whenever I can, lol, usually 2 times each day, for 20-40 minutes, depending on how I am feeling.

Which Do You Prefer and Why… Steady State Cardio Or HITT Cardio?

I use cardio just for weight loss, so I prefer steady state cardio. I get my best aerobic training from my performance workouts.

What Are Your Personal Thoughts On Fasted Cardio?

I know there are many theories about this, so I have tried everything. In my experience, fasted cardio has been good for my body. But it depends on your body and diet. You should do what is best for your body and situation.

What Does Your Diet Look Like?

My diet is the same as any healthy diet, but I eat six meals each day, in small portions (always measured). Even with healthy food, it is important to eat so that you are not hungry, but not full. My diet includes fruit (apples, oranges, grapefruit, carbs (potatoes, rice), protein (fish, chicken, egg whites), fat (nuts, avocado), and vegetables (tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, onion, zucchini).

Do You Bulk and Cut Or Do You Stay Lean For The Whole Year Round?

In Russia, I used to gain weight, off-season, then lose it for a contest. This was not good for my health. I learned a lot about professional fitness when I came to the USA. I saw that the pros stayed in great shape all year long. I liked this, and I understood that it was important for me to do this, as well. My work (coaching, modelling, appearances) requires that I be in good shape all the time. It’s also easier to get into contest shape when I start in good shape.

What Do You Find Gives The Best Results When You Are Cutting?

Cardio is my best weapon.

How Do You Deal With Cravings?

When I am focused on the diet, I really have no interest in junk food. Even if I would try it, I would not enjoy it.

What Supplements Do You Use?

I use Carnitine,
Phenorex for fat-burning ,
fish oils,
Intrapro Protein,
and Anavite vitamins.

What Activities and Hobbies Do You Enjoy When You Are Away From The Gym?

I love my acting classes! Fitness and bodybuilding is all about how you look. Acting is about what is inside, and it has been great to learn about myself and understand the feelings of others, both spoken and unspoken.

What Are Your Favourite Supplements?

From my last prep, I liked Anavite vitamin supplements most. They really helped me.

What 3 Exercises Have Contributed The Most To Building Your Physique?

Any three exercises for shoulders, because shoulders are important for my fitness look and performance.

They always ask: “How do I get your shape?”, lol. Most want to know how to get abs.

What Is Your Favorite Workout Music?

I don’t care. I use music for cardio but, in the gym, I listen to my body, not to music.

What Is Your Greatest Achievement?

I am most proud of moving to the USA – the best country in the world – arriving with no help and no opportunities, and making a life for myself.
