Could You Tell Us A Bit About Yourself And How You Got Involved In Fitness?
My back ground is in fashion modelling, I did my first fashion show when I was just 5 years old. These days I prefer the challenge that comes with being in shape for Fitness Modelling and I have been fortunate to have had opportunities to do a lot of International fitness modelling over the last couple of years. My most important role is as a Mother to my 3 young children, Dior-Rose 4 years, Carlos 5 yrs. and Annaliese 12 yrs.
Growing up I trained in Early Childhood Education, Computer technology & Personal Training, all professions which I decided not to pursue. I also worked in event Management for a few years organizing fashion shows and corporate functions. I started training when I was 16 years old working part time in the gym, although I didn’t start training seriously until 2002. It wasn’t until I competed in 2007 as a Novice when I won my class, best posing routine & Overall Figure Champion that I knew that the fitness industry was where I was meant to be. After spending my entire life wondering what the heck I was going to do with my life, I finally knew!! That was a great moment.
What Helps You Stay Motivated?
I love everything that comes with training, the life style, the mind set and the way training and being in shape makes me feel. You can apply the things that are required for staying focused for a competition in all aspects of life. It takes great dedication and sacrifice to see a contest through to the end and you can use the values learnt through these experiences in all areas of life.
What Does Your Workout Look Like?
I Lift as heavy as I can for every rep on every set!
I also work Abs in every second workout. Cardio differs depending on where I am in my contest prep. Off season I do 30 mins immediately after training. During contest prep I do up to 3 hours a day of cardio.
What Does Your Diet Look Like?
I’m constantly altering and tweaking my diet based on the last show and what I think might work better next time. I admit I prefer my diet to be easy and a bit boring so I don’t have to do much thinking about what my next meal is going to be. Diet is without a doubt the hardest aspect of getting into contest shape for me. My diet often feels a little likeground hog day! LOL. However, I find that this is the easiest way for me to stick to my eating plan. There is always so much else going on in the home and close to competition time I don’t really enjoy the food anyway. I think of it purely as an energy and growth source.
During competition prep I substitute shakes for meals, just to make my metabolism work harder to burn the calories. And of course my calories decrease the closer I get to my competition which can be challenging as my cardio generally increases about the same time.
What Supplements Do You Use?
I am a big believer in supplements and use them to help to stay healthy year round so I can consistently make improvements to my physique. Some of the supplements I take include fish oils, adrenal stress support, zinc, vitamin D, vitamin C, and multi vitamins. I use glutamine and protein powder year round as a good quality source of protein. To assist with fat loss leading up to a show I also take L-Carnitine and Body Ripped HGH +ZMA and thermogenliquid.
What Activities and Hobbies Do You Enjoy When You Are Away From The Gym?
We take our children Annaliese (12 yrs) Carlos (6 yrs) and Dior-Rose (4 yrs) to live stage shows whenever they come to town, it’s something that we all enjoy. My daughter Annaliese and I go to music concerts whenever we can that’s our thing. We travel allot and that’s probably what we enjoy doing most as a family. Fiji is our home away from home and just a short 3 hour flight from NZ so we spend allot of time there.
What 3 Exercises Have Contributed The Most To Building Your Physique?
Squats, Shoulder Press & Straight leg dead lifts.
What Is Your Greatest Achievement?
That would be placing 3rd in The NZ Pro in march this year and qualifying for 2011 Figure Olympia. New Zealand’s First ever female to qualify 🙂
What Is Your Favorite Quote?

What Do You Love About Competing?
In the brief time since I turned Pro. I feel I have become stronger mentally in the sense that I am now more focused on being satisfied with my performance at contests based on my own opinion more so than how well I place and as long as I am improving from show to show I’m happy. I have also learned just how much I really am capable of when I commit myself 100% and I’ve also learned my limits along the way as well.
What Are Your Plans For The Future?
My goals change and evolve constantly. I am by nature a veryunpredictable kind of Girl. No limits anything is possible. So goals, yes I have plenty!I would love to place in the top 10 in this year’s Olympia, maybe start a fitness clothing line, Building a beautiful beach front holiday home in Fiji! Just to name a few. I see no reason why big things can’t be accomplished by anyone brave enough to dream the dream then work to make it come true. Like the saying goes “If you can dream it, you can do it”.
